QA Inspector - Hinton, WV

We are currently seeking motivated and committed individuals for a unique opportunity to join our team of Quality Assurance Inspectors in Hinton, West Virginia. All skill levels will be considered! Growth and advancement opportunities for those who excel. 


Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret procedures and instructions

  •  Inspect/test railcars for compliance according to: 

    • governing agencies specifications

    •  customer specifications

    •  company procedures

  • Estimate repairs, cleaning, and coatings required for each railcar using (and in accordance with) the governing agencies codes and regulations

  •  Track calibration of gauges and tools

  • perform non-destructive testing:

    • MT

    •  PT

    •  BLT

  • Perform interior inspection for coating and other defects

  • Perform inbound inspections to all railcars arriving on site

  •  Perform outbound inspections to all railcars prior to departure











Some Training May Include:

  • Bubble leak testing and qualification per AAR regulations

  • Dye penetrant testing and qualification per AAR regulations

  • AAR and company standard operating procedure

  • Customer requirements

  • DOT hazardous material

  • Air brake training per CFR49 Part 232

  • Stenciling requirements per AAR and customer specifications

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Proficient in the use of computers for the purposes of:

    • estimation 

    • gauge (and other) tracking

    • accessing files saved to a shared drive

    • generating/issuing memos and instructions

    • email correspondence

  • Able to read/interpret:

    • tape measure

    • veneer calipers

    • micrometers

    • pressure gauges

    • thermometers

  • Able to read sketches and drawings of railcars and associated parts

  • Able to identify individual components of railcars

  • Able to sit, stand, walk and maneuver around, on and in railcars

  • Use hands, fingers and arms to reach, grab, feel or otherwise handle objects

  • Ability to hear and communicate efficiently in speech and in written/typed formats

 

Specific Vision Requirements Include:

  • Near and far vision

  • peripheral vision

  • color vision

  • depth perception

  • ability to adjust focus


Preferred Skills:

  • 3 years experience as an inspector trainee

or

  • 5 years experience in rail car repair and 1 year as an inspector trainee
